Neck injury caused by muscle strains and ligament sprains in the neck need to be treated as any other strain or sprain...R.I.C.E. the first letter of Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. Rest and Elevation are easy, but how do you Ice and Compress the neck? Use a Cold One® Cold Compression Cervical Neck Wrap for physical therapy, occupational therapy, sports medicine, and home care when neck injury, pain and inflammation are present. Layers 1. Outer layer of Nitrogren Blown Neoprene 2. Middle layer of sewn in re-freezable gels 3. Inner layer of rubber impregnated linen (protects skin from cryoburn). The wrap can be frozen in about 2 hours in a residential or commercial freezer or refrigerator freezer. Once frozen, the wrap is applied to the neck and upper shoulder area and the compression adjusted by stretching and attaching with the Velcro fastener. The neck wrap will provide icing for about 10 minutes and then gradually return to body temperature. The compression drives the cold deep into the soft tissues of the entire neck region. The front of the neck injury wrap is cut out for the laryngeal prominence or more commonly known as the Adam's apple, for a comfortable fit. The Cold One® Neck injury Wrap is ergonomically designed and conforms anatomically to the entire neck region. The stretchability of the 3 layers create "Cold Compression Therapy" which drives the cold deep into ligamentous and muscular structures of the neck to relieve pain and relieve swelling. Once applied, the gels will gradually thaw within 10-15 minutes so the wrap is safe to use and cannot "over-ice" or cryoburn the skin. The neck wrap can be worn over clothing or against the skin Cold One® wraps deliver both cold therapy and compression therapy at the same time. The combination drives the cold deeper into the upper body soft tissue than ice packs, "frozen peas", or frozen chemical gel bags. Cold One®’s neoprene outer layer provides added insulation and prevents sweating on the outside while our specifically milled inner liner (stretchable, very tough) prevents sweating on the inside and protects skin from cryoburn. The Cold One® wraps are not only effective, but comfortable when worn against the skin or over clothing. The gel capsules are strategically sewn in place for each wrap to effectively provide cold coverage where it is needed. The individual gel capsules conform to the body curvature for a close comfortable fit. Other wrap manufacturers save money by using nylon, which can fatigue after repeated freezing, instead of neoprene and using inserts which are hard to place and unreliable and uncomfortable.
